Student Life

Student Life

Every Child Can Go Further. That belief reaches beyond lessons and marks — into character, creativity, movement, responsibility, friendship and the experiences that make up an ordinary school day.

The whole child

Learning Is More Than What Happens in a Lesson.

Lovia's educational direction considers the whole child, not only the part of a child that sits an assessment.

Children learn through study and through much else besides: through creativity, through movement, through taking responsibility, through the way they treat the people around them, and through experiences that reach beyond ordinary lessons.

Lovia describes that breadth in five words: Learn · Explore · Create · Lead · Serve. They are a way of thinking about education rather than a list of separate programmes.

More than results

Character Is Part of Everyday Learning.

Lovia aims to connect academic growth with responsibility and with how children treat other people.

The school's values — Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, Leadership and Community — are meant to show up in ordinary moments of the school day, not only in what is written about the school. Its motto says the same thing in three words: Character. Courage. Service.

Character, in this sense, is not a separate subject. It is the way learning is carried out.

Belonging and safety

Every Child Deserves Dignity and Respect.

Children take part more freely when they feel safe, known and respected.

Lovia's approach to safeguarding begins with respect for each child's dignity, privacy and wellbeing. In the school's public and digital spaces one rule guides the work: children are learners, not content.

Belonging is part of student life. A child who is treated with respect is more willing to try, to ask, to perform, to play and to make mistakes in front of others.

Physical activity

Movement Is Part of Growing and Learning.

Lovia School currently provides Physical Education (PE), and football is part of school life.

Physical activity gives children a different way to take part in school: to move, to play alongside others, to practise cooperation and fairness, and to enjoy something that is not done sitting down.

PE and football are part of that ordinary rhythm of the school day rather than something set apart from learning.

Art, music and dance

Creativity Has a Place in School Life.

Lovia School currently includes art, music and dance.

Create is one of the ways Lovia describes learning: making things is how understanding becomes real. Art, music and dance give children a way to express what they know and who they are, in forms that written work alone cannot carry.

Creative work also builds patience, attention and confidence — qualities that return to every other part of a child's learning.

Shared life

Beginning the Day Together.

Lovia School has a morning assembly.

Gathering at the start of the day gives a school a shared moment: a point where learners are together as one community before they go to their separate lessons.

Families who would like to know more about how the school day begins are welcome to ask the school directly.

Beyond ordinary lessons

Learning Beyond the Classroom.

Lovia School takes occasional educational trips, and Lovia Learning World extends learning into a digital space.

Educational trips can give children the chance to encounter learning outside the ordinary classroom — to see, hear and ask questions about something in the world rather than only reading about it.

Lovia Learning World is the school's digital learning environment. It offers seven ways to learn, so children can approach ideas in the way that suits them: Learn, Watch, Play, Read, Explore, Create, Practice.

Identity and outlook

Rooted in Ghana. Prepared for the World.

Children grow strongest when they know who they are and where they come from — and can look outward with confidence.

Ghanaian identity, community and responsibility shape how Lovia thinks about growing up as well as about study. Learning that begins in a familiar culture gives children the grounding to understand the wider world.

Around the school

Resources for Learning.

Lovia School has a library and a computer room.

A library gives children somewhere to read and to look things up; a computer room gives them somewhere to work with digital tools as part of school life.

These are separate from Lovia Learning World, which is the school's online environment for reading, practice and exploration.

Practical matters

Supporting the School Day.

Lovia School provides meals and transportation.

Practical arrangements matter to families as much as anything else about a school day. Lovia provides meals and transportation as part of school life.

Current details of these arrangements are best confirmed with the school directly, so that families receive accurate and up-to-date information.

Educational direction

Growing in Responsibility.

Leadership and service are values Lovia is working to grow in children, at every age.

Leadership at Lovia means integrity, cooperation and the courage to take responsibility. Service means contributing to your family, your school and your community.

These are educational aims rather than a set of titles. They are practised in everyday choices — how a child works with others, keeps a promise, or helps when help is needed.
